Another quiet week blogging-wise, but we’ve just been getting on with cooking and eating. The noodle soup and the mussels have both been bumped to this week, although the noodle soup was meant to use up the other half of the tin of black beans left over from the beef and black bean burgers. That plan was slightly scuppered by me using the entire tin and not realising until the burgers were half-cooked. Whoops.
This week I’m trialling a box from SimplyCook.com. They are a recipe box company with a slight difference: instead of including all the fresh ingredients, it only includes the flavourings along with a recipe card. I think it’s quite an ingenious idea; not only does it cut the cost right down, it also means that you don’t have meat and vegetables lingering in your fridge getting past their best, because for whatever reason you haven’t had the chance to cook. It also means that you can tweak the ingredients according to your taste. Got some leftover chicken left, or prefer sweet potatoes to potatoes? No problem, and nothing goes to waste.
Keep an eye out for how we got on and my forthcoming review. I’ll also be posting a recipe for the Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, and for some of the leftover dishes we’ll be doing with it.
Chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, carrots & leeks, roasted new potatoes (Recipe forthcoming)
Ca Kho To (A Vietnamese dish of caramelised fish, with a sweet and savoury sauce. A SimplyCook recipe)
Pasta dish made with leftover chicken and garlicky gravy (Recipe forthcoming)
Iranian vegetable stew (SimplyCook recipe)
Chicken noodle soup (Made with stock from the carcass, & leftover chicken)
Beef rendang (SimplyCook recipe)
